After Arnold Schwarzenegger slowed down on bodybuilding , he pursued a career in acting. He had several auditions where agents were dismissive due to his long name and thick accent. He had a breakthrough when he got a role in the movie “Hercules”. He later went on to act in several movies during his early career. It is his roles as action superstar that put him in the limelight.

Entry into action movies

In 1982 he acted in “Conan the Barbarian”, a sword and sorcery filled film. The movie got a sequel called “Conan the Destroyer” that aired in 1984. His big break was in the action movie “The Terminator” that was James Cameron’s thriller sci-fi movie. In 1985, he was in the movie “Red Sonja”.

His sense of humor, good looks, and body structure made him a darling of many. After terminator, he was in several action movies including “Commando” in 1985, “Raw Deal” in 1986, “Predator” in 1987, “The Running Man” in 1987, and “Red Heat” in 1988.

More action

In 1991, Schwarzenegger made a return with “Terminator 2” and later “Judgement Day”. In 1993, he was in an action comedy titled “Last Action Hero” and this was followed by his role in the film “True Lies”. In the same year, he acted in “Junior” followed by “Eraser”, an action film that aired in 1996. He was also in the Christmas themed comedy “Jingle All The way” in 1996.

In 1997, he was starred in “Batman and Robin” and he then took a break from acting after he got a back injury. Two years later, he was back with “End of Days”, a thriller that was followed by “The 6th Day” in 2000. In the same year, he appeared in the action film “The 6th Day” and in 2002, he was in the action movie “Collateral Damage”. In 2003, he was in “terminator 3”.
